An Introduction to Sufism

بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

‘Sufism Live Fellowship’ is the culmination of the ways of eminent Sufi saints, who are the heirs of the Prophets, as inherited by Jouhar Ali Naqshbandi Al-Hassani, a representative of Sahibul Saif Shaykh Abdul Kerim Al-Kibrisi (Q.S) and Sultan of Saints Mawlana Shaykh Nazim Al Haqqani (Q.S) and of the Osmanli Naqshbandi Haqqani Rabbani Sufi Way.

In 2009 Ramadan, Hazret Shaykh Abdul Kerim Al-Kibrisi (Q.S) authorised Jouhar Ali Naqshbandi Al-Hassani to initiate people into the Naqshbandi Haqqani Osmanli Sufi Way, to organise Zikr and to provide help and support for people who wish to enter in to the Tariqah (Osmanli Naqshbandi Haqqani Sufi Way), since then Jouhar Ali Naqshbandi Al-Hassani continuing this work by the blessings of Shaykh Abdul Kerim Al Kibrisi (Q.S),  and received spiritual blessings from Mawlana Shaykh Nazim Al-Haqqani (Q.S) Shaykh Muhammad Adil Al-Rabbani (Q.S) and Shaykh Lokman Hoja (Q.S)

The objective of this mission is to introduce young Muslims to the mystical brotherhood of Islam, which is the cure for all human spiritual sickness , such as terrorism, radicalisation, hatred, anger, Jealousy, greed, and other obscene behaviours!

The doctrines of Sufi Way (i.e Tariqah/Tarikat) lies in the guidance (Quran) of the LORD of Heavens and upon the Sunnah (traditions) of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him).

Three Aspects of Sufism/Sufi Live

The first one is Purification of the Body and Soul:

Quran 91:9-10 He has succeeded who purifies it, And he will indeed fail who corrupts it.

The traditions (Hadith) of the Prophet (Upon him be Peace and Blessings) describes that this is the heart and outward form (inward and outward) that need to be purified.

But majority of the Muslims today, they are heedless about the spiritual purification, and yet many of them are very much cautious about outward purification. So they wash their body excessively in ritual ablution (Wudu) but no emphasis on the ablution of the mind and soul! They are more concerned about a "Halal" (permissible things according to Islamic Law) label or sticker on groceries and meat, but no emphasis on halal mind and soul, halal visions  and thoughts, and it is also 'OK' if there is no halal sticker on the TV or smartphone in which you may see so many 'Haram' (forbidden things in Islamic law) things willingly or unwillingly!

The Second one is  to make Service:

Quran 5:9 Allah has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds [that] for them there is forgiveness and great reward.

Quran 18:30 Indeed, those who believed and did the good deeds, indeed, We will not let go waste (the) reward (of one) who does good deeds.

Quran 41:8 Lo! as for those who believe and do good works, for them is a reward enduring.

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Every joint of a person must perform a charity each day that the sun rises: to judge justly between two people is a charity. To help a man with his mount, lifting him onto it or hoisting up his belongings onto it, is a charity. And the good word is a charity. And every step that you take towards the prayer is a charity, and removing a harmful object from the road is a charity.” [Al-Bukhari] [Muslim]

Only a pure heart can make true worship/service (Ibada) in the way of Truth. So the purification comes before actions and nearness!. The quality of service depends on the purity of the heart. Heart is more sincere and steadfast when it not distracted by the false deities (i.e vain desires, malice, pride, love for fame and authority)

The Third One is to Attain Nearness:

Quran 9:40 If you do not aid the Prophet - Allah has already aided him when those who disbelieved had driven him out [of Makkah] as one of two, when they were in the cave and he said to his companion, "Do not grieve; indeed Allah is with us." And Allah sent down his tranquillity upon him and supported him with angels you did not see and made the word of those who disbelieved the lowest, while the word of Allah - that is the highest. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.

Quran 33:3  And rely upon Allah ; and sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.

Therefore it is obligatory to follow this protocol to attain nearness with the LORD of Truth.

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Verily Allah ta’ala has said: ‘Whosoever shows enmity to a wali (friend) of Mine, then I have declared war against him. And My servant does not draw near to Me with anything more loved to Me than the religious duties I have obligated upon him. And My servant continues to draw near to me with nafil (supererogatory) deeds until I Love him. When I Love him, I am his hearing with which he hears, and his sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he strikes, and his foot with which he walks. Were he to ask [something] of Me, I would surely give it to him; and were he to seek refuge with Me, I would surely grant him refuge.’ ” [Al-Bukhari] see Imam Nawawi 40 Hadith No:38

Sufism identifies that, in order to correctly observe this principles, one must follow an inheritor of the Prophets , a Saint (Wali/Awliya plr). While other non-spiritual organisations rely on the false system of formal education and attaining such skills in the likeness of Imams and pastors

This is non-Islamic, non-spiritual system!. Because, no Prophets coming with a priest curriculum and Diploma of Islam or Diploma of Gospel or Torah!. So the right way is to follow the ways of the inheritors of the Prophets and of the high eminent Saints of the past. Because the way is continuing through an unbroken lineage of inheritors!. All other religions and sects are lost in their lineage, except for Traditional Sunni-Sufi Islam!

Quran says: O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is the best [way] and best in result. 4:59

Whoso obeyeth Allah and the messenger, they are with those unto whom Allah hath shown favour, of the prophets and the saints and the martyrs and the righteous. The best of company are they! 4:69

Quran 9:119: O ye who believe! Be careful of your duty to Allah, and be with the truthful.
Quran 36:21 Follow those who do not ask of you [any] payment, and they are [rightly] guided.

So the command has come in the Book of the LORD to follow the truthful and to obey those who are in authority among you and to be with the righteous ones!.
This verses prove that the command is to follow a living guide and inheritor of the Prophets (Awliya Allah/Saints of the Most High)
As everyone agree, Masjid Imams are upon Payroll, mere scholarship of books does not make anyone spiritually truthful, the authority mentioned in Quran 4:59 is not only political authority but also spiritual leadership!.

On the authority of Tameem ibn Aus ad-Daree (ra):
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “The deen (religion) is naseehah (advice, sincerity).” We said, “To whom?” He (ﷺ) said, “To Allah, His Book, His Messenger, and to the leaders of the Muslims and their common folk.” [Muslim]

So it is impossible that a Sufi Muslim to be a danger /threat to people or a nation!. They walk upon inner asceticism (detachment of heart from all worldly possessions). A true Muslim is the guardian of his neighbours and those who are around him!

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that:
The Messenger of Allah [Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ] said: "The Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand the people are safe, and the believer (a Muslim who attained full faith in Islam is called Mu'mun or believer) is the one from whom the people's lives and wealth are safe."

Reference : Sunan an-Nasa'i 4995
In-book reference : Book 47, Hadith 11
English translation : Vol. 6, Book 47, Hadith 4998

In this 21st century, whole people are exposed to the non-spiritual congregations that claim to be Islam, such as political or radical Islam or even the outward form of Islamic religion that is eroded by the mass population who are slave to materialism and worldly desires, as they are not the wholesome appearance of Islam, those who seek the Islamic religion through the eyes of the world and of the intellect which is the slave of the five senses, could not see it's real beauty and exalted station!.. The influx of non-spiritual organisations and their deceptions have caused mainstream people to misunderstand "Sufi Islam" and accuse blasphemy and unbelief on the Sufi Saints just as Jesus Christ (Peace be upon him) was accused of blasphemy by the non-spiritual religious leaders of his time, despite of their reading of the Quran and Hadiths (traditions of the Prophet) aforementioned!

Our activities include Zikr Halqa (prayer vigils and prayer circles), discourses and other general activities related to Sufism.

Everyone from all backgrounds are welcome to attend our events and associations.
